HOWELL – Two Neptune Township men were arrested and charged for stealing over $200,000 in jewelry and valuables, police said.
The burglary occurred on December 26, 2022, at a home on West Farms Road in Howell Township. According to Howell Police, the suspects made entry by forcing a rear door open. Once inside, they went into the master bedroom and stole over $200,000 in exotic jewelry and valuables.
Police said the suspects were captured on home security surveillance cameras both inside and outside the home. Despite wearing face masks and gloves, they were later identified as 32-year-old Dathan Thompson and 32-year-oldKarl Roberson, both of Neptune.
On March 27, police arrested Thompson without incident at his home and he was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Roberson was arrested during a motor vehicle stop in Neptune, as his car was found to be connected to the burglary. After his arrest, officers searched his car and seized a defaced 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, several packages of suspected cocaine, marijuana and items related to the burglary. He was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of controlled dangerous substance and several weapons offenses.
Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
