JACKSON – Due to the upcoming weather conditions, the Jackson Day Committee has made the decision to cancel Jackson Day, which was set for October 2.
The decision was ultimately made due to the excessive rain and winds that is expected to hit the area over the weekend. As a result, this would make setting up difficult as well as putting residents and employees in danger.
“With the high winds expected, objects can become airborne posing a safety hazard. These weather conditions are not conducive to outdoor events,” the Jackson Day Committee said in a statement. “Furthermore, there are contractual obligations that require us to cancel within a certain time frame to avoid penalty. This was a difficult decision to come to but strongly feel this is the best for everyone’s safety.”
“We pray for Florida and for the safety of all those in the path of Hurricane Ian,” the Committee added.
