STAFFORD – Route 72 will be closed overnight as crews prep for an upcoming paving project, according to the State Department of Transportation.
Route 72 will be closed in both directions from 8 p.m. on Friday, March 15 until 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 16. During this night, crews will be restriping the road and installing a construction barrier to create a center lane for workers.
If you’re heading east, the detour will be:
Take Mill Creek Road South/Beach Haven West exit
Follow Mill Creek Road
Turn left onto Jonathan Drive, which becomes Jennifer Lane
Turn left onto Morris Boulevard
Turn right onto Route 72 east
For about a month, the area of Route 72 and Marsha Drive will be milled and paved, the DOT said.
During this time, heading east, both lanes will lead to Long Beach Island. Anyone going to Morris Drive must use the right lane.
Heading west, both lanes will lead to Manahawkin. Anyone going to Marsha Drive must use the right lane.
