BERKELEY – A Township man has been arrested and charged for uploading child pornography pictures to the internet, officials said.
Joseph Asfor, 45, was charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Obstruction of Justice.
Authorities identified an IP address associated with Asfor’s home in Berkeley Township as a location of someone uploading images of child pornography to the internet. Detectives ultimately identified the individual as Asfor.
On March 27, police searched the home and spoke with Asfor outside, who was acting erratically – and detectives feared for his safety. As a result, Asfor was arrested and transported to Berkeley Township Police Headquarters.
An initial examination of Asfor’s cell phone led to the discovery of several items of child pornography. Asfor was placed under arrest at Berkeley Township Police Headquarters; he was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.

Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit-Megan’s Law Squad, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and Berkeley Township Police Department, for their collaborative assistance in connection with this investigation leading to Asfor’s arrest.
The charges referenced are merely accusations and the public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
