JERSEY SHORE – A long, deep rumble creeped through our homes and shook us up a bit, making us all think “Wait, was that an earthquake?”
Everyone jumped onto their phones to try to learn more, mostly just texting each other “Did you feel that?”
It wasn’t your imagination, or a really big plane going overhead. It was either a 4.7 or a 4.8 magnitude quake 5 km northeast of Lebanon, New Jersey. The U.S. Geological Survey said it was 1 km deep. Multiple reports are varying the number – something that routinely happens during incidents like these.
We felt it this far away, too. A business owner in Farmingdale told Jersey Shore Online that their entire office shook for a few seconds, but it felt a lot longer. The force knocked some things off a bookshelf.
Pets throughout Ocean and Monmouth counties got agitated. Naturally, the closer you were to Lebanon, the more shook up you were.
