BAYVILLE – The New Jersey Forest Fire Service have reported a wildfire that began this afternoon on the Garden State Parkway.
Officials state that the fire was about one acre and located in the median of the parkway near mile marker 77. The fire is not expected to grow in size, officials said.
At this time, two southbound lanes and one northbound lane of the Garden State Parkway are closed and the fire has been contained. Smoke may be visible for an extended period and drivers should be cautious, officials said.
In addition, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service asks motorists to watch for firefighters and fire vehicles that may be working on the roadsides.
