HARVEY CEDARS – An 18-year-old was killed in a tragic boating accident that occurred over the weekend off of Harvey Cedars in Long Beach Island, state police said.
Around 4:30 p.m. on August 25, state troopers responded to an incident in the waters off Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars Borough.
The teen was on a raft being pulled by a boat and was attempting to board the vessel when she was struck by the vessel’s propeller, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.
The victim, who was identified as 18-year-old Zeina Mahafzah of Wayne, NJ, had sustained fatal injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time, Sgt. Lebron said.
