  MANCHESTER – A car struck three homes in Leisure Village West but there were no serious injuries, police reported.   Anne Broking, 84, of Manchester, was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry when she backed into a home at around 11 a.m. on December 21.   MANCHESTER – A car struck three homes in Leisure Village West but there were no serious injuries, police reported.

  Anne Broking, 84, of Manchester, was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry when she backed into a home at around 11 a.m. on December 21. Then, the car headed east and struck two homes simultaneously.

  Police said Theresa Mcweeney, 88, of Manchester was in the first home and had to be rescued. She and the driver were both brought to Community Medical Center in Toms River with injuries that were not life-threatening.

  The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by first responders. The front end of the Toyota suffered extensive damage.

  Police said the primary factor in the crash was a mistake when backing up. The accident is being investigated by Ptl. Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

  Assisting at the scene were Emergency Medical Technicians from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Manchester Township Volunteer Firefighters, Ridgeway Volunteer Firefighters, Jersey Central Power and Light, the Manchester Township Building Inspector, and Priced Rite Towing.
