  LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP – A vacant seasonal home went up in flames Monday morning as multiple fire departments from around Long Beach Island and Ocean County went to work at the scene.

  The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s office confirmed to Jersey Shore Online that several fire companies were called to the house on Holly Drive in the early morning hours of December 23.

  According to the Barnegat Light Volunteer Fire Company #1, when they arrived at the scene, there were flames and smoke billowing from the third floor and the roof. The blaze was upgraded to a 4-alarm bringing in additional units and county resources.

  Officials say the home was vacant at the time with no occupants inside.  Fire personnel at the scene contained the flames to prevent spreading to nearby properties.

  There was one reported injury throughout the incident, as crews were continuing overhaul and excavating through the burned debris, a crew member fell, sustaining a head injury, they were medevacked to a trauma center.

  The Ocean County Fire Marshal is working to determine the cause but it was likely electrical in nature.
