MANCHESTER – A suspect from New York has been ordered to remain detained in relation to the murder of a 35-year-old man, officials said.
Sandeep Kumar, 34, of South Ozone Park, New York, shall remained detained in the Ocean County Jail on charges of Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder in connection with the death of Kuldeep Kumar, 35, of India.
Sandeep Kumar’s co-defendants, Sourav Kumar, 23, Gaurav Singh, 27, Nirmal Singh, 30, and Gurdeep Singh, 22, all of Greenwood, Indiana, will have their detention hearings upon extradition to Ocean County from the State of Indiana.
Local authorities were called to the Greenwood Wildlife Management Area in Manchester after a body was discovered on December 14, 2024. This is a large open space area that touches the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest and Double Trouble State Park. According to officials, the body was a deceased man in a “state of advanced decomposition.”
The next day, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim’s death was caused by multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. The murder was estimated to have taken place in Manchester on or about October 22, 2024.
With assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the body was identified as Kuldeep Kumar, 35, of India. He had been reported missing by family members in Ozone Park, New York, on October 26, 2024.
Four suspects were arrested on December 20, 2024. Sourav Kumar, 23; Gaurav Singh, 27, Nirmal Singh, 30, and Gurdeep Singh, 22, all of Greenwood, Indiana, were charged with Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
Sandeep Kumar has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail since his apprehension on January 3, 2025.
The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
