  TOMS RIVER – A 67-year-old Toms River woman died Sunday after being struck by a car while crossing Route 166, police said.

  Cynthia Ryder was taken to Community Medical Center where she ultimately died from her injuries.

  According to police, Ryder was crossing from east to west in the area of 1055 Route 166 at about 5:40 p.m. when she was hit by a 2015 Hyundai Genesis traveling north driven by 66-year-old Arnita M. Morris of Whiting.

  Route 166 was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash. No summonses have been issued, police said.

  The investigation is being handled by Toms River Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit, assisted by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
