  MANCHESTER – Three people were injured after a car ran a stop sign and crashed into a van Wednesday afternoon, police said.   The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Beacon Street.   MANCHESTER – Three people were injured after a car ran a stop sign and crashed into a van Wednesday afternoon, police said.

  The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Beacon Street. A Ford Transit Van was traveling westbound on Broadway Boulevard approaching the intersection while a Mazda 2 was traveling southbound on Beacon Street approaching the intersection.

  According to police, the Mazda ran the stop sign which resulted in the front end of the Ford impacting the front driver side of the Mazda. The Mazda that stuck a mailbox before coming to a final rest. The Ford stopped on the front lawn of a nearby home, police said.

  The driver of the Mazda, 31-year-old Jeisy Sofia Macario AJ of Virginia, suffered a complaint of back pain and was transported by ambulance to Community Medical Center.

  The driver of the Ford, 62-year-old Francisco Matos of Lakewood, had four juveniles in the van at the time of the crash. The driver suffered no injuries; however, two juvenile passengers were brought to a local area hospital for complaints of pain.

  The roadway was closed during the investigation and cleanup. Assisting at the scene were EMTs from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, South Toms River EMS, firefighters from Manchester Township Fire Department and Priced Rite Towing.

  At this time, investigation into this crash is still ongoing. This crash is being investigated by Ptl. Sage Sysol of the department’s Traffic Safety Section.
