JACKSON – One of the three victims taken to the hospital following that horrific Friday morning fatal crash in Ocean County has died from his injuries.

Yeshiva World News identified the victim as Rafael Faham who was among those initially pulled from the wreck by first responders.

Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew Kunz told Jersey Shore Online that the single vehicle crash with one driver and four passengers happened in the area of North Hope Chapel Road and New Central Avenue on Friday, May 23. The vehicle had crashed into a tree before bursting into flames.

The Lakewood Scoop was the first to identify the victims who died at the scene as Dovid Yitzchok Handler and Chaim Zelig Beril.

Jackson Police Lieutenant Fred Meabe said officers had to force their way inside to try and remove the occupants – two had died at the scene – one from the impact of the crash and the other in the fire.

Officers were able to pull two passengers out and the other had been able to escape and was found lying in the road near the vehicle.

The investigation has revealed that the vehicle struck a deer that entered the roadway causing the driver to strike the tree.

The remaining two passengers are in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Any witnesses to the crash are urged to call Traffic Safety Officer David Dejesus at 732-928-1111.
