FORKED RIVER – Popcorn Park Animal Refuge has a new resident growing a little longer every day – but he’s not alive. “Rocco,” a community rock snake, is made up of hand-painted stones placed by visitors at the Forked River sanctuary.
Guests are encouraged to stop by during regular visiting hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and add their own rock to the collection. Whether painted with bright colors, creative designs, or personal messages, each stone helps Rocco stretch a little farther along the refuge grounds.
Staff said the project offers families, artists, and animal lovers alike a fun way to leave their mark while supporting the refuge’s mission of caring for rescued wildlife and pets.
