MANAHAWKIN – A Forked River woman is facing a shoplifting charge after police said she stole merchandise from a Manahawkin retail store earlier this month.
According to authorities, Shayna Novick, 39, was arrested at approximately 8:00 p.m. on December 12, following an incident at the Target store located at 209 Stafford Park Boulevard.
Police said Novick is accused of taking about $251 worth of merchandise without paying. She was taken into custody at the scene and transported to police headquarters for processing.
Novick was charged with shoplifting under New Jersey statute 2C:20-11. She was later released on a criminal complaint summons and is scheduled to appear in Ocean County Superior Court at a future date.
Officer Michael McMurry was the arresting officer. No additional information was released.
This was the second arrest in regards to shoplifting at this store this month.
