STAFFORD — A 31-year-old Manahawkin woman was charged with drug-related offenses after a traffic stop in Stafford Township, police said.

Police said Patrolman O’Rourke stopped Ashley E. Kolakowski near Route 72 East at about 12:51 a.m. on February 15. During the investigation, the officer developed suspicion that she may have been in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, according to authorities.

Patrolman Russell Okinsky and K-9 Buck were called to the scene to perform an exterior sniff of the vehicle. Police said the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics, but a search of the vehicle did not turn up any controlled dangerous substance.

Patrolman Danielle Errico later searched Kolakowski and allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Kolakowski was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to make lawful disposition of a controlled dangerous substance.

She was processed and released pending a future appearance in Ocean County Superior Court.

Authorities note that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
