LAKEHURST — Two drivers were taken to a hospital with injuries after a serious two-vehicle crash, authorities said.
Lakehurst Police said officers were dispatched at about 3:33 p.m. on March 13 to the intersection of Route 70 and Center Street for a reported crash involving injuries.
When officers arrived, they found a 2019 Dodge Durango and a 2019 Mini Cooper with heavy damage blocking the eastbound lanes of Route 70, according to police. Traffic was rerouted onto Center Street for about an hour, leading to significant delays in the area.
Both drivers were transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
An investigation at the scene determined that the Mini Cooper was attempting to turn left onto Center Street from westbound Route 70 against a red light and collided with the eastbound Dodge Durango, according to authorities.
Lakehurst First Aid Squad, Manchester First Aid Squad and Priced Rite Towing assisted at the scene. Officer Sean Phillips investigated the crash.
