MANCHESTER — If you thought the ground was rumbling beneath your feet last night, you weren’t imagining things — but no, it wasn’t an earthquake.
Local officials say the shaking and noise reported by residents throughout the area were the result of scheduled training exercises at nearby Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Manchester police issued a reminder that the base will continue conducting exercises throughout the day on Friday, March 20, warning residents to expect increased noise and activity.
For longtime locals, the explanation may have felt familiar.
After all, living near a military installation comes with certain… perks.
Those “mysterious booms” and window-rattling vibrations? Not so mysterious after all.
Authorities say there is no cause for concern — just the sound of routine military preparedness echoing across Ocean County.
Ahh, the sounds of freedom!
