TOMS RIVER — An Asbury Park man was sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison for a fatal 2022 shooting at a Toms River hookah lounge, authorities said.
Eric Manzanares, 26, was sentenced by Judge Guy P. Ryan after previously pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the death of Nymere Tinsley. Manzanares also received concurrent seven-year prison terms for two counts of aggravated assault involving two other victims.

All sentences are subject to the No Early Release Act, requiring Manzanares to serve at least 85% before becoming eligible for parole.
Police responded around 1:20 a.m. Aug. 27, 2022, to Top Tier Hookah Lounge on Hooper Avenue after reports of gunfire. Tinsley was shot in the lower abdomen and later died at Community Medical Center. Anthony Miller, 30, of Neptune Township, and Jamal Bland, 26, of Asbury Park, were treated for gunshot wounds and released.
Investigators determined Manzanares shot all three victims, prosecutors said. He was arrested April 7, 2023, in Prince William County, Virginia, and extradited to Ocean County on Jan. 24, 2024.
Manzanares pleaded guilty Feb. 27.
In a press release sent to media outlets Friday afteroon, Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledged the diligent efforts of Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Jamie Schron and Senior Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Burke who handled the case on behalf of the State, and commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River Township Police Department, Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Asbury Park Police Department, United States Marshals Service, and Prince William County (Virginia) Police Department, for their combined and collective efforts in connection with this investigation.
