MANAHAWKIN – A Burlington County woman was charged after police said they found methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Stafford Township.

According to the Stafford Township Police Department, Patrolman Ryan Cahill stopped a vehicle at about 12:25 a.m. May 14 near Route 9 and Julian Court in Manahawkin. Police identified the driver as Kimberly Deridder, 56, of Shamong.

During the stop, Cahill suspected that drugs were inside the vehicle or on Deridder, police said. Patrolman Okinsky and his narcotics K-9, Buck, were called to the scene to check the outside of the vehicle.

Police said Buck indicated the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search turned up about 23 grams of methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Deridder was charged with second-degree manufacturing, distributing or dispensing methamphetamine in a quantity of one-half ounce or more but less than five ounces; third-degree possession of methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense.

After she was processed at Stafford Township Police Department, Deridder was taken to the Ocean County Jail on a complaint warrant pending a detention hearing.
