OCEAN COUNTY — A Paterson man has admitted to his role in a 2023 robbery that left a man shot multiple times in Little Egg Harbor Township, authorities said.

Christopher Miller, 38, pleaded guilty Monday to robbery before Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. Prosecutors said they will seek a 10-year New Jersey State Prison sentence when Miller is sentenced Aug. 21. The sentence would be subject to the No Early Release Act.

Police were called to a home on East Hudson Drive at about 4:30 a.m. Sept. 9, 2023, after receiving a report of gunfire. Officers found a 36-year-old man suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona, where he was treated and later released.

Investigators said the victim had gone to the residence to visit Miller and Marc Manfredonia, 34, of Little Egg Harbor, both of whom he knew. Authorities said Miller and Manfredonia forced the victim out of the home and demanded money.

Miller displayed a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim unless he sent money through a mobile cash app, prosecutors said. The victim made payments to both men, but when they demanded more money and he refused, a fight broke out.

Authorities said Miller fired four shots, striking the victim in the leg, groin and ear. Miller and Manfredonia then continued assaulting the victim before going back inside the residence, prosecutors said. The victim ran to a nearby home and called police.

Miller and Manfredonia were arrested at the residence without incident and taken to the Ocean County Jail. Miller was later released under New Jersey’s bail reform laws, while Manfredonia remained detained.

Manfredonia pleaded guilty to robbery on June 17, 2024. He was sentenced Aug. 9, 2024, to 10 years in state prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, requiring him to serve at least 85% of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Billhimer credited Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Mara Brater, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Little Egg Harbor police, the department’s detective bureau, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Mystic Island Volunteer Fire Department for their work on the case.
