MANCHESTER – A community partnership has gone a long way to help restock an important community support program within the township’s school district.
The Manchester Township High School (MTHS) Care Closet and Food Pantry recently received a very generous boost thanks to a community alliance led by former Manchester Township School District employee Joann McCann and members of the Soroptimist Club.
McCann wrote a grant through the Soroptimist Club with Manchester Township Schools as the beneficiary and she was awarded funding to purchase essential supplies for the Care Closet and Food Pantry.
McCann and members of the Soroptimist Club visited MTHS to deliver the donated items and help support students across the district.
The MTHS Care Closet is now in its second year of supporting students. It serves as a District Hub that provides access to essential items including personal care products, food, clothing, and laundry facilities.
Due to the generosity of community members, organizations, and grant funding, the Care Closet helps ensure that students have the resources they need to feel supported and ready to focus on learning.
Superintendent Diane Pedroza is very proud of those responsible for what is being done. “The Care Closet represents the very best of what a community can do when we come together to support our students.”
Pedroza added, “partnerships like this one allow us to continue meeting the needs of our students. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and acts of kindness like these are a constant reminder that our Manchester students are surrounded by a community that cares.”
The need for essential resources continues to grow, and community support remains a vital part of keeping the Care Closet and Food Pantry stocked. Donations help provide students with items that promote confidence, well-being, and success both inside and outside the classroom.
Pedroza noted that the school district appreciates McCann and the Soroptimist Club’s efforts and their expression of generosity and commitment to making a difference for students and families throughout the district.
