TOMS RIVER — A Brick Township man accused of helping a murder suspect evade police surrendered Monday morning, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Ronald Hagan, 50, turned himself in to Toms River police with his attorney present. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail to await a detention hearing.
Hagan was charged September 24 with hindering the apprehension of Douglas Cobb, 51, of Toms River. Cobb is charged with murdering Bruce Gress, 42, of Toms River, on September 18.
Three others were charged with hindering in the same investigation: Sylvester Green, 43, of Bayville; Cherice Nicholson, 46, of Howell; and Jennifer Rizalvo, 48, of Lakewood. Prosecutors allege the four helped Cobb avoid arrest or gave investigators false information.
Green and Nicholson were taken to the Ocean County Jail after being charged. Rizalvo received a summons to appear in Superior Court. Prosecutors said they were continuing their search for Cobb.
The charges are accusations. All five defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
