TOMS RIVER — Ocean County residents can vote at any of 10 early voting sites beginning October 24, request a mail-in ballot or visit their assigned polling place on Election Day, November 3.

Early voting runs through November 1. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Election Day polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

County Clerk John P. Kelly urged residents to look over their sample ballots before voting. The mailings, sent to more than 400,000 registered voters, provide information about assigned polling places, early voting centers and mail-in ballot drop boxes.

During early voting, residents can choose whichever county location is most convenient. Voting equipment will display the ballot for each voter’s home election district. On Election Day, voters must report to their assigned polling place.

Drop box and hand-delivered ballots are due by 8 p.m. November 3. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the county Board of Elections within six days afterward, making November 9 the receipt deadline. Mail-in ballots cannot be returned to early voting centers or Election Day polling places.

Deputy County Clerk John Catalano said the clerk’s office had issued 60,940 mail-in ballots as of October 15. Of those, 23,868 went to registered Democrats and 22,304 to registered Republicans. The Board of Elections had received 18,967 completed ballots by that date.

County Commissioner Deputy Director Jennifier Bacchione, the liaison to the clerk’s office, said county election officials are working to make voting accessible while maintaining election security.

Kelly encouraged voters to study the candidates and questions on their sample ballots before making their selections.
