LAKEHURST – Police are searching for the vehicle and driver who crashed into the Micromedia Publications delivery van on Christmas morning before fleeing the scene.

The incident happened in the 700 block of Oak Street in the borough sometime between midnight and 12:25 a.m. on December 25. The van was parked and no one was inside at the time.

Unfortunately, a ring camera on one of the properties was being obstructed by an inflatable snowman.

“This is one Christmas headache we didn’t want or need right now,” said Micromedia Vice President Jason Allentoff.

Allentoff added “we hope that the person responsible is caught and received plenty of coal from Santa. We would also assume that their vehicle suffered damage from the collision.”

The van with Jersey Shore Online signage is one of the delivery vehicles for Micromedia’s seven weekly newspapers. It suffered front end damage in the incident. The force of the crash propelled it onto the curb.

Police are urging anyone in the 700 block of Oak Street to check home surveillance video and anyone with information to contact them at 732-657-7812.
