SEASIDE PARK – The humpback whale that was previously seen floating off the coast of Seaside Park has now washed ashore this morning.

The whale was first spotted yesterday about one mile off the L Street beach and confirmed by the Seaside Park Police Department.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center was notified of the whale around 11:04 a.m. Wednesday, which at that time was about a half-mile off Seaside Park.

They are currently on scene alongside officials from Seaside Park to secure the whale and bring it up the beach to prepare for the necropsy.

At this time, it is unclear whether it is the same whale carcass that was spotted floating in the Ambrose Channel earlier this week, Clean Ocean Action said.
