BERKELEY – A man was rescued by the Seaside Heights Marine Unit after he jumped into the freezing waters of the Toms River on Friday, police said.
Authorities said the man was suffering from a mental episode. Ptl. Eddie Pasieka and Tim Farrell were able to locate the man in the channel and eventually pull him aboard. He was then taken to Berkeley EMTs waiting ashore.
“Due to Ptl. Pasieka’s quick response it was another great save for the Seaside Heights Marine Unit. Thank you, Officer Pasieka and Tim Farrell, for a job well done,” Seaside Heights Police Department said.
