BERKELEY – Township officials reminded the public that even though it might be refreshing to dip into the water during these warm late spring days, don’t do it when there’s no lifeguard present.
Beaches will be open, and lifeguards will be on the beach, starting on Memorial Day weekend. They will be at the beach on weekends only until the third Saturday in June, Councilman Angelo Guadagno said. There won’t be lifeguards on a weekday until after that third Saturday in June. The beach will be open until Labor Day.
The beach is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but lifeguards are only on duty from 10 a.m. to 5 pm., the town’s recreation page stated.
He urged people to swim only when it’s safe to do so.
Badges can be purchased at the beach, or online before the season begins on the township web page twp.berkeley.nj.us/departments/recreation/beach_information.php
