SEASIDE HEIGHTS – Authorities have determined that the multiple calls indicating bombs on the Seaside Heights boardwalk were part of a swatting tactic.

This morning, the Seaside Heights Police Department received four phone calls stating that two bombs were hidden at businesses on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. The callers also told police that that they had operatives armed with guns on the boardwalk.

After investigating these claims, authorities found that the threats were not legitimate.

As a result of these threats, the boardwalk was temporarily evacuated. However, the boardwalk reopened around 10:30 a.m.

“Based on what we know now, these threats are swatting incidents. We will continue to investigate this incident with our local, State and Federal law enforcement partners,” concluded Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
