BARNEGAT – Multiple police, fire and emergency medical crews are at the scene of a massive blaze in the township on Saturday afternoon that sent flames shooting into the air and smoke billowing from the roof that could be seen for several miles.
Fire departments from Barnegat, Manahawkin and Forked River are working to put the flames out at the single family home on Cox Road.
It appears most of the flames were knocked down, although additional aid was needed to deal with the fire in the attic area.
There is no word yet on any injuries although Jersey Shore Online learned from some eyewitnesses at the scene that everyone got out safely.
The fire not only destroyed much of the house but severely damaged a vehicle parked in the driveway.
In addition to EMS, Atlantic City Electric is also at the scene as is the Ocean County Fire Marshal who will be working to investigate the cause along with Barnegat Police.
