MANCHESTER – A two-car crash has left two injured after a driver made an improper U-turn on Route 70 Monday, police said.
Around 1:50 p.m., the Manchester Township Police responded to the area of Route 70 at mile marker 36.5.
According to police, 23-year-old Zachary Wilson of Marlton was traveling west on Route 70 in a Subaru Outback when he pulled to the side of the road and made a U-turn in order to turn around and travel east. While making the U-turn, a second driver, 47-year-old Troy Weal of Browns Mills was also traveling west in a Pontiac G8. Weal tried to evade but his vehicle struck Wilson’s.
Wilson sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment where he is listed in stable condition, police said. Additionally, Weal sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment where he is also listed in stable condition.
Assisting at the scene were Emergency Medical Technicians and Firefighters from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Accurate Towing.
Investigation is ongoing, however police believe an improper turn is the primary contributing factor.
This crash is being investigated by Ptl. Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
