BERKELEY – Authorities have reported no injuries resulted from a fire that broke out at the Ocean County Municipal Utilities Authority Monday morning.
Around 7 a.m., police received a report of a fire at the Ocean County Municipal Utilities Authority on Hickory Lane. Employees reported a heavy smoke condition near the fertilizer plant.
Bayville, Manitou Park, Pinewald, Pine Beach, and Forked River Fire Departments, plus the Berkeley EMS all responded.
First responders quickly extinguished the fire, which was isolated to a tank on the facility. No injuries were reported as well as no property damage, police said.
The fire is being investigated by the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office. At this time, it appears to be accidental in nature, officials said.
