BRICK – The smoke from an afternoon brush fire was visible from as far away as Seaside Park, as first responders worked swiftly to extinguish it. The smell was also strong through sections of Ocean County.
Police said the fire was spotted around 1 p.m. April 11 near the area of Alameda and East Coral Drive. The Herbertsville, Laurelton, Breton Woods, and Pioneer Hose Fire Companies all responded to extinguish the fire, as well as mutual aid from the NJ Forest Fire Service and the Point Pleasant Borough, Point Pleasant Beach, and Silverton Fire Departments.
Authorities confirmed no injuries or property damage, however nearby homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
