TOMS RIVER – Two residents were abruptly woken up when two burglars opened their bedroom door during a break-in on December 23, police said.
The homeowner said that around 2:30 a.m., two unknown individuals had opened their bedroom door on the second floor of their Brower Avenue home.
Surveillance video showed four suspects dressed in all black, wearing face masks and gloves, get out of a white BMW and approached the home.
Police said one suspect opened the driver side door of the victim’s BMW in their driveway and rummaged through the car. Two other suspects tried to enter another vehicle parked in the driveway, but it was locked.
The suspects then broke into the home and began to rummage through the kitchen and home, then went upstairs and opened the homeowners’ bedroom door before they were scared off, police said.
The four suspects fled the area in a white BMW, which had been reported stolen in Bayonne.
