BARNEGAT – One driver was ejected from their car, which then caught fire, as the result of a two-car crash on the Garden State Parkway Wednesday night, state police said.
The crash occurred on November 2 around 4:06 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the parkway near mile post 68.2, State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said.
According to Goez, a Volvo SUV had collided with a Hyundai sedan, which caused the Volvo to veer off the road and overturned in the median. The driver of the Volvo was then ejected from the car, which went up in flames shortly after, Goez said.
The driver of the Volvo suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, The driver of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries and was also brought to the hospital, Goez said.
Barnegat Police announced late Wednesday night that traffic was flowing normally on West Bay Avenue. Garden State Parkway northbound was reduced to one lane in the Barnegat area.
