TOMS RIVER – A motor vehicle accident earlier today forced the closure of Route 9 in both directions between Cox Cro Road and North Maple Avenue after a vehicle struck a utility pole, officials said.
The crash caused three transformers to rupture, spilling fluid and prompting a Hazmat team to respond. Crews remain on scene, and the highway will stay closed while repairs are made.
