MANCHESTER — A two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Ocean County resulted in injuries and significant traffic delays near County Route 571 and Beacon Street, police said.
The collision occurred around 7:50 a.m. and involved a red 2013 Volvo S60 and a gray 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, both sustaining extensive front-end damage, according to the Manchester Township Police Department.
The driver of the Volvo, 37-year-old Livingston Pacheco-Borja, and his passenger, 39-year-old Natalia Aguilar-Molina, both of Manchester, were transported to Community Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The Camaro’s driver, 31-year-old Deron Edmond Jr., also of Manchester, was treated at the scene and declined further medical care.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Camaro was attempting a left turn from Beacon Street onto CR-571 after an eastbound vehicle in the right lane stopped to allow the turn. The Camaro was then struck by the Volvo traveling in the left lane of CR-571.
All individuals involved were wearing seatbelts, police said.
Emergency medical crews from Manchester and Toms River, along with paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Priced Rite Towing, responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the department’s Traffic Safety Unit. Failure to yield the right of way is believed to be the primary contributing factor.
