BARNEGAT – A crash brought down utility wires and closed Route 9 for a few hours, police said.
An older woman was driving on Lower Shore Road on April 27, attempting to cross Route 9 to get to Memorial Drive when her vehicle struck another. The vehicle that was hit came to a stop on its side after damaging a utility pole, bringing down wires, police said.
The three children inside the upended car, ages 2, 5 and 5, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and released.
Route 9 was closed for several hours while the wires were cleared. The crash remains under investigation.
