TOMS RIVER – Police and fire crews responded to a two-alarm blaze at a home on Sandy Place in the township.

The Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention reported the fire on December 8 shortly before 8 p.m. The East Dover Fire Company was the first dispatched to the scene along with police. Upon arriving, flames were seen shooting out of the third floor of the house.

According to Matthew Janora, Chief Inspector of the Fire Bureau, there is a lack of fire hydrants in this area of town so a 2,200 feet of large diameter hose was used to supply apparatus at the scene.

The blaze was extinguished and no one was injured. Officials believe it was accidental in nature, caused by a failure of energized electrical equipment.

The fire is being investigated by Inspector Carlin of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention and Patrolman Fallano of the Toms River Police Department.
