BRICK – Township and Ocean County authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian dead.
The Ocean County Prosescutor’s Office and Brick Township Police department issued a joint press release in regards to the January 13th incident that took place in the area of Route 35 South and Bay Avenue in Brick.
According to the release, officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to the area of Route 35 South and Bay Avenue at around 9:15 a.m. for a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian. Responding Officers discovered that a vehicle had struck a female pedestrian in the shoulder of the roadway and then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Hackensack Meridian Ocean University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.
Police say the investigation has revealed that the vehicle which struck the victim is believed to be a 1998-2001 Ford Explorer in a spruce green color.
The vehicle will likely have front passenger side damage and a broken front passenger side headlight.
