NEWARK – A former caseworker for families and children pleaded guilty to possession and transporting child pornography.
Trent Collier, 57, of Kearny, arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport from the Dominican Republic on September 28, 2021, police said. Law enforcement found images of child sexual abuse – including victims who were toddlers – when searching his phone.
In a statement to police, he admitted that he had sent child pornography to someone, and that person had sent some to him.
Collier faces up to 20 years in prison for each charge at his October 10 sentencing. Each count also carries a fine up to $250,000 or twice the gain or loss from the offense, whichever is greater.
