OCEAN COUNTY – A former Ocean County Performing Arts School teacher has been arrested and charged for allegedly having sexual contact with a juvenile student, officials said.

Douglas Bollinger, 56, of Neptune City, was charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of Criminal Sexual Contact.

Between February 2019 and August 2019, Bollinger – while employed as a teacher at the Ocean County Performing Arts Academy – engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with a female student in both Point Pleasant Beach and Asbury Park.

On August 15, Bollinger was taken into custody at his home by the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force. He was brought to the Ocean County Jail, where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.

“It is my understanding that Mr. Bollinger is no longer employed as a teacher with the Performing Arts Academy, but I would encourage parents to have a conversation with their children if they had Mr. Bollinger as a teacher,” Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

If anyone has additional information regarding Bollinger or this investigation, contact Detective Nicole Testa of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027 ext. 3489.

Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Lakehurst Police Department, Manchester Township Police Department, Point Pleasant Beach Police Department, Asbury Park Police Department, and United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, for their collaborative efforts in connection with this investigation.

The charges referenced are merely accusations and the public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
