  BRICK – The community is mourning the loss of Louise Sarah Wootton, who passed away on March 3 at the age of 59.

  Dr. Wootton, a professor at Georgian Court University, died of complications from uterine surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

  Born in the British isle of Guernsey on November 4, 1964, she was the daughter of Patrick Wootton, who passed in 2001, and Ann Wootton. Being the third of four children, she has a younger brother and an older brother and sister.

  When Louise was a teenager, her family moved from Guernsey to Prince Edward Island, Canada. She graduated from a local high school, earned a bachelor’s degree at Acadia College in Nova Scotia, and a master’s degree in biology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

  She met her future husband, David Williams, while earning her Ph.D. in the United States. After finishing her doctoral degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, she and David moved to New Jersey and later married.

  Louise taught at Georgian Court University in Lakewood for 27 years, beginning in 1997. In addition, she was deeply involved in the local animal rescue community.

  She is survived by her mother, Ann Wootton, younger brother Andrew Bruce-Wootton, and older siblings James Wootton and Bridget Spring, nieces and nephews Ellie Spring, David Wootton, Richard Wootton, Laura Bruce-Wootton and Peter Bruce-Wootton, and her husband, David Williams, and extended family and friends.

  Services have yet to be announced.
