TOMS RIVER – Ever wonder what it was like to be a real-life pirate in the 18th century? The Ocean County Library Toms River Branch will host American Historical Theatre as actor Jill Lawrence brings to life pirate Anne Bonny in an all-ages interactive show, “Swashbucklers and Sea Dogs,” 6:30 p.m. September 28.
Notorious Pirate Captain Anne Bonny has sailed into a port near you! In between her busy schedule of swordplay, fisticuffs and some salty pirate talk, she must find fresh recruits to quickly learn the ABC’s of PI-RA-CY.
You’ll learn pirate law, nautical terms, knot tying, geography, and more. Wee ones all the way up to old sea dogs will enjoy daring sword fights, as well as interactive crafts and games.
Jill Lawrence earned a BFA with honors in Musical Theater from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has performed with the Ziggurat Theater in Los Angeles, the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, and many other venues. She also teaches theater to young people, and conducts staged-combat workshops for actors.
