  LACEY – A head-on collision, which caused one car to burst into flames, has left two drivers injured, police said.   Around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a crash occurred on Lacey Road, just west of Dover Road.   LACEY – A head-on collision, which caused one car to burst into flames, has left two drivers injured, police said.

  Around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a crash occurred on Lacey Road, just west of Dover Road. According to police, a 46-year-old woman was driving east on Lacey Road when her 2021 black Land Rover drifted into the westbound lane. As a result, she collided head on with a 2005 gray Mazda Tribute driven by a 77-year-old woman from Whiting.

  Police said due to the collision, the Land Rover burst into flames and the Forked River Fire Department extinguished the fire.

  The driver of the Mazda Tribute suffered serious injuries and was flown by Medivac to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The other driver also suffered significant injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center, police said.

  Responding agencies included the Forked River Fire Department and Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit and Ocean County Prosecutors Office also responded to assist in the investigation.
