NEW JERSEY – Townsquare Media, which owns New Jersey 101.5, has let three longtime staffers go, evening host Steve Trevelise and news reporters David Matthau and Vin Ebenau.

The website AllAccess.com quoted the Regional VP/New Jersey Brian Lang: “I want to thank Steve, David and Vin for their contributions. Our plan for the NJ101.5 newsroom is to add multi-media journalists that excel both online and on-air, and we are currently recruiting for those roles. Evenings will continue to be live, local and New Jersey centric as we evaluate the direction of the daypart.”

All three men had established following and institutional knowledge of their beats and the players involved.

Trevelise’s most recent bio says “Jersey is all about attitude, and that’s what you get with me. Jersey attitude, born in Union City and bred through Marlboro, Old Bridge, Eatontown, East Windsor, Roosevelt, Sea Isle City and more. When I’m not talking Jersey on New Jersey 101.5, I’m making fun of it in theaters, comedy clubs and casinos across the state. But I do it with love, because that’s what we’re about in New Jersey – love and attitude.”

All Access said he runs a comedy club in Cherry Hill and was the former news director at WYSP/Philadelphia. He had been hosting the show on 101.5 for 11 years.

Matthau’s most recent bio says “I have been covering New Jersey news for more than 25 years, and have served as NJ101.5’s lead investigative reporter since 2000.” In this regard, he’s covered breaking news stories such as the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the resignation of Governor Jim McGreevey, Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy. Matthau is also the son of the late legendary actor Walter Matthau, who died in 2000.

Ebenau’s most recent bio lists a ton of jobs he had at the company, including “on-air and digital News Reporter for NJ101.5, News Anchor/Reporter on 92.7 WOBM, 94.3 The Point, 105.7 The Hawk and Cat Country Jersey Shore 96.7/104.1, News Reporter for Cat Country 107.3, 95.5 WPG, Lite 96.9, and SOJO 104.9. I also host Jersey Shore Journal on 92.7 WOBM, 94.3 The Point, 105.7 The Hawk, and Cat Country Jersey Shore Sundays at 11:30 pm and co-host Shore Time with Vin and Dave on 94.3ThePoint and 105.7 The Hawk Sundays from 6-8 a.m. I am also a Reporter for the Shore Sports Network. I’ve been working with Townsquare Media-New Jersey since 2015.”

It is unclear as to why the three were let go from their positions and many of their fans and listeners took to social media over the weekend to voice their displeasure with the move.
