LAKEWOOD – A Howell man has been arrested and charged with robbing two banks and attempting to rob a third, police said.
According to police, the man attempted to rob the Wells Fargo Bank located at 425 W Kennedy Boulevard in Lakewood at 3:01 p.m. June 30. The man had entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. He left on foot without any proceeds, police said.
At 3:08 p.m., the same man entered the TD Bank located at 1601 Madison Avenue and handed the teller a note demanding money. He left with about $1,500 in cash.
Police later identified the man as 67-year-old Ivan Sevastianow of Howell after learning of a connection to another bank robbery that occurred on July 7 in Old Bridge,
Sevastianow was charged with two counts of robbery and is currently lodged in the Middlesex County Jail.
