JACKSON – The township branch of the Ocean County Library is celebrating Spanish music on October 8.
Jackson Librarian Christine Mecca said, “we are having a very interesting program from 2 to 3 p.m.: A celebration of Spanish music and dance performed by Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre, featuring a mixture of classical, regional and flamenco dances from Spain and Latin American dances from Mexico and Ecuador.”
The Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre is New Jersey’s premier dance company, in existence for 36 years. It was originally founded in New York by Eva Lucena, its current Executive Director, and under the name “The Spanish Dance Theatre.”
Mecca said the group toured the East Coast for 10 years, including Symphony Space and Carnegie Hall in New York. Alborada encompasses all forms of dance from Spain whether it be flamenco, regional, or classical, and also performs dance theater works such as “El Amor Brujo” and “Homenaje a García Lorca.”
Attendees must register for the program. To register visit, theoceancountylibrary.org
