JACKSON – Authorities have arrested and charged a live-in nanny for shaking, tossing and improperly handling 7-week-old twin girls.

Trudy Osborne, 59, from Jamaica, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree child abuse in connection to incidents that occurred on March 26.

The infant girls were taken first to their family’s pediatrician and then to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for further evaluation. A CT scan showed that the babies were uninjured, authorities said.

The father of the children called police around 12:30 p.m. that day stating that his wife had seen Osborne improperly handling the babies on their home’s video surveillance.

The father had called police from the pediatrician’s office where he showed police the video footage of Osborne shaking the babies, police said. As a result, Osborne was arrested at the family’s home and was taken to Jackson police headquarters then to the Ocean County Jail.

She has since been released due to bail reform.
