FREEHOLD – A 20-year-old male has been charged in connection with setting fire to a residence in Deal that left the home destroyed, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Monday.

Nasyr-Alaire D. Fisher, was charged with one count of second-degree Burglary, one count of third-degree Arson, along with multiple other offenses, including six counts of fourth-degree Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

On Sunday, December 30, 2024, at approximately 6:31 a.m., multiple area fire departments responded to Lady Bess Drive in Deal for the report of a house fire. Upon arrival, police and fire personnel discovered the house to be fully engulfed. Fisher was located by Deal Police Department patrol officers in the area shortly after the fire was discovered.

An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and Deal Police Department determined Fisher was responsible for the fire.

Fisher was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI), where he is being held pending his first appearance in Monmouth County Superior Court.

The case is assigned to Assistant Prosecutor Caitlin J. Sidley of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau. Information regarding Fisher’s legal representation was not immediately available.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
